VETS PR is organized to serve as an extension of your primary care office. We are dedicated to supporting the veterinary community by providing 24-hour emergency services and referrals for specialized services. We believe that collaboration between veterinarians will strengthen the veterinary profession and provide excellent care to your patients.
Our goal at VETS PR is to maintain positive relationships with you and your clients while providing excellent care from start to finish. We are pleased to be able to work hand in hand with your hospital team to provide emergency and specialty care to your patients.
At VETS PR, we make sure that the patients you refer remain your patients. We inform your clients that our services are limited to emergency and specialty care, and do not include primary care. Our highly trained staff complies with our referral policy and ensures that the patients you refer to our hospital return to your office for follow-up care.
What to expect when you refer a patient to VETS PR:
Clear communication with referring veterinarians is our priority.
- A notice that your patient was received at our emergency hospital will be sent via fax or e-mail, followed by a request for further instructions from your hospital upon admission by us.
- Daily progress reports including phone calls to keep you involved in your patient's care.
- A formal case summary will be sent once your patient is discharged.
To provide continuity of service, we provide clear and accurate communication through the use of a software program that allows us to automatically and instantly upload digital images for review, such as x-rays, ultrasounds, and intraoperative images.
With modern advances in veterinary diagnostics and treatment, we believe that the best outcome for a complicated case is achieved when the primary care veterinarian is an intrinsic part of a dedicated team of staff members, emergency physicians, and specialists, working together to provide quality care.
Emergency services
Our emergency hospital is available to cover all medical and surgical emergencies 24 hours a day, including nights, weekends, and holidays. You can refer emergency patients as well as hospital patients who need overnight care. These patients will be returned for follow-up care with complete reports, including x-rays and diagnostic reports, upon request.
